Each year the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Cornwall and District presents scholarships—from $600 to $800—to graduating female students at 12 secondary schools in Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry.

 

The Scholarship Fund receives a remarkable level of support from the membership through internal fundraising activities.  Since the inception of the program in 1957, $100,000 has been awarded to deserving female graduates of  secondary and adult secondary schools in our area.

In 2023 we awarded our 400th scholarship!

 

According to CFUW criteria, as well as being enrolled in a Canadian University, scholarship recipients must demonstrate “character, promise and scholarship”.

In 2015, “financial need” was added as a consideration. The CFUW Scholarship Committee coordinates the distribution of scholarships.
