Who We Are
In 2025-2026 CFUW Cornwall and District celebrated 70 years of women working together to bring about positive change in our community. Our work has provided over $100,000 in scholarships to young women in our 12 High Schools who are continuing their post-secondary education. Our 400th award was presented in June 2024! We advocate for women who have been affected by Intimate Partner Violence, support youth, and the vulnerable in our communities.
CFUW is a non-partisan, voluntary, self-funded organization with over 100 clubs located in every province in Canada.
Since 1919, CFUW has been working to improve the status of women and to promote human rights, public education, social justice, and peace. It holds special consultative status with the United Nations (ECOSOC) and belongs to the Education Committee of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO.

Meetings are held monthly September to May, and include guest speaker presentations. Topics are diverse, current, educational and thought-provoking.

Interest Groups
Groups get together - weekly, bi-weekly or monthly - for activity, socializing and learning – from hiking, biking, book clubs, outings, needle work, and gourmet dinners.

Advocacy
All members have the opportunity to join the Advocacy Committee. We use our experience, enthusiasm and expertise to bring about positive change.

Scholarships
Each year the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Cornwall and District presents scholarships—from $600 to $800—to graduating female students at 12 secondary schools in Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry. In 2026 we presented special scholarships of $1,000 for the 70th Anniversary of our club.
